Beijing Children's Weekly
In October of 2000, John Noble was approached by the sister of a gentleman who was attending the International Art Expo in San Francisco. She later introduced them to each other. The man turned out to be the art editor for a children's weekly magazine published in Beijing China. Once a year, in the issue coming out during the Chinese New Year, the Beijing Children's Weekly features an artist from another country outside of China.
This year, Lao Du, the Art Editor for the Beijing Children's Weekly, couldn't find an artist to feature in their magazine. His sister, knowing of John's work, took Lao Du to see him at his studio. Lao Du was very impressed. John gave him samples of his work and they conducted an interview. Later, John emailed a personal statement to the young readers of the magazine.
On the left is the article that ran in the Beijing Children's Weekly.

Below is the cover of the magazine and some information about it.

Translation:
In a modest art studio, I met Mr. John Noble who was working on a drawing of elephants. Mr. John Noble lives in the state of California in America. He is an artist who loves drawing animals for children. He has won many awards and his works are beloved by children. Now, let's get into Mr. John Noble's animal world...

The bottom of the page shown above is the translation into Chinese of the words
John sent speaking to the children of China. These are the words he sent.
"When I was drawing the pictures that are in this presentation I
never imagined that I would be speaking to students on the other side of the
world; nor did I ever imagine that you would be viewing my images. But as an
artist, I have learned that when pictures are completed they gain a life of
their own and there is no telling how far they may carry you or what
unexpected adventures they might bring."
---Mr. John Noble would like to speak to the Children of China through Beijing Children's Weekly
Each image has also had a poem added to it written by Lao Du.
